We had our kickoff Fall Generous Generations meeting on Saturday morning and took the boys so that they could play in the gym with the other kids--they had a great time but I missed most of the meeting. We played the funniest game of Duck, Duck, Goose and it was absolutely hysterical to see how excited they were and to see the look in their eyes when they got to each person and pondered if they would be the goose. So cute. There should be a lot of great things happening with Gg--check it out at http://www.generousgenerations.org/. After the meeting we headed to Grammy's for an old-fashioned carnival and it was great. There was a moon bounce and lots of games for the kids to play. At each station they got to pick a little prize and we could barely tear Jack away from the putting green and Luke away from the knock down bottles where he threw like a real pitcher--with his leg up I swear--to knock down the pins. Grammy was really happy to see the boys and then we walked her to lunch where Jack and Luke both asked Grammy if she could go into her dining room and bring them back red apples. Ironically Dan's great Aunt (Jean) who seemed to be in her early 90's as well lives in the same complex and we ran into her at the moon bounce and she was so happy to meet the boys and get a hold of their hair. She is a lovely person and it was the 1st time I had ever met her and Dan hadn't seen her in years. Of course she did! Shannon and Joey and the boys came up on Sunday morning and Shannon and I went to see Jon and Kate (-8) at a Christian church sponsored event at the Keswick Theater. They were exactly like you see on TV but very religious. They claim that the network has final editing rights and all their family prayers, psalm recitation etc.. is edited out. The odd thing is the tickets were free but they pass around a basket for a "love offering" so you can donate to them. As avid watchers of the show both Shannon and I are a little disturbed about all the recent product placement they are doing and the fact that so much of what they have and do is donated and yet they are traveling around asking for donations from families that have so much less than they do. I guess it's a way to make a living but you just have to wonder.....
