Day 5 --our last Day!

Today was the only day that the weather was really questionable. We headed over to Hollywood Studios (aka MGM) where we've never visited under a dark cloud (literally and figuratively) as we were really tired and getting crankier. Our plan was to stay for 3 hours max and then head back for early and hopefully long naps. There really isn't much at this park for toddlers but we were able to fast pass the Toy Story ride, see a few characters and meet Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater--the highlight of the trip! Funny thing is, Jack and Luke have never seen Cars and have never really seen any show that lasts longer than 24 minutes but they know all the characters from their cousin Charlie who can recite the movie verbatim. We have lots of Cars paraphenalia at home so this was a real treat. After McQueen revved his engine at Jack, poor Jacky shot across the parking lot scared to death so we all got in for a group shot. We raced out of there in the rain to try and get a good afternoon nap which was not in the cards for Luke. Since this was our last night I wanted to do something really fun and I like to end at the Magic Kingdom so we had gotten tickets for Mickey's Halloween Party from 7PM-12 midnight. We all wore matching shirts and told everyone that Luke's costume was "no nap nukey". Dan and I were both concerned how this night would go but to our amazement it was one of the best times we've had there. Disney does a great job with this event--it is jam packed with characters, decorations, fog machines, creepy music, etc...They only sell around 5,ooo tix for this event and to put that in perspective for you when the MK is sold out on let's say Christmas day they let 85,000-100,000 people in so the park was EMPTY. We trick or treated all around and got to have dinner with my friend from college, Kris (aka KrisRyan) and her family. Kris is 5 mos pregnant with their 2nd child and their daughter Karalyn is a little partier--loves to dance and loves trick or treating. We live about an hour from each other at home and had to travel to Orlando to get together--I guess that's life! Matt and Kris were also leaving the next day but ended up closing the park at midnight--real troopers!!! Because it was so empty we had a 15 minute private photo shoot with Mickey and Minnie and took tons of pictures. The photographers were posing us and setting up all sorts of fun shots. We stayed for the parade which started with the headless horseman galloping through the park--luckily he went by so fast the boys didn't understand what he was, but it was really cool. We managed to stay until 10Pm or so to see the fireworks show and the boys were happy just to run around. We watched the fireworks practically by ourselves from the base of Main Street where we also got to see Mickey and Goofy outside--again almost by ourselves. Jack and Luke love fireworks and they sit quietly in awe for the whole show. We left with bags full of candy and tons of great pix. It was a really great night to end the trip...now back to the room to put the boys to bed and pack up to be out of the hotel by 8AM...
