Halloween Spooktacular!

I wanted to have a little Halloween gathering so we could actually get some use out of their super-cool Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater costumes and get them excited about Halloween. Last year Jack never made it off the porch. The 1st person who came to our door had a mask on and he wanted no parts of stepping foot of the porch. He spent the night with Nana and Pop-Pop while Dan, Vanessa and I walked Luke and Landon around. Those 2 were more than happy to knock on doors looking for candy. They even invited themselves in to a few places.

So on Friday night, Charlie and Finny, Landon Smith and Christian Haggerty came all decked out to join in the spooky festivities. They all had a great time and left with sugar highs. We did some arts and crafts, painted pumpkins, played in the dark with sparklers and glow sticks, and marched in a little backyard parade led by Witch Mabel. Who by the way Charlie seemed to have a little crush on admitting "she scares me a little bit...I like her".
At the end of the night Luke thanked me for having a fun Halloween party b/c he loved it and had fun. It was so sweet. Jack also loved it even though he wouldn't admit that he had fun. I probably had the most fun with the planning and decorating--always one for a theme, I just can't throw down paper plates and candy corn and call it a day.

On Saturday while Dan was at an SJU Board Meeting we headed to the zoo on a chilly Fall morning but they had a ball and were absolutely exhausted in time for nap time. We did get a little bit of work done around the house--Operation 2nd Floor" as I called it. We are moving from 1 bedroom to another while we have a walk-in closet built so there is clothing everywhere!! We are trying to move some things to the 3rd floor, some to the attic and give lots away but it's a slow process. I am behind about a year putting the boys old clothing away--I just can't keep up with it. I am trying to work on it a little bit each day--see what a good job I'm doing--blogging instead of folding...

The boys are approaching 3 1/2 on Christmas Day and I just can't tell you what a nice age this is for me. They are so smart and aware of everything with the vocabulary to prove it. On Saturday while at the zoo I threw all of our stuff into a "new bag" that I purchased pre Jack and Luke but they have never seen it. That's what cleaning out the closets does for you--it unearths old deals you bought at the Gap circa 2000. So anyway while walking out of the house....
Luke: (very curiously) " Mommy you got a new bag?"
Me: Well it's not new but you've never seen it.
Luke: Oh, where did you get it, at Target?
Me: The Gap
Luke: Oh, the Gap?

He doesn't miss a beat. He frequently comments when we pass someone in the store who has the same Vera Bradley patterned bags that I have (which are many).

Enjoy the photos...
