11th Annual Base Tour

18 of us went away again this year in search of deals, discounts and bargains.....this was the boys 4th tour and we had a great time! This year we stayed in Southern Maryland at Solomons Island and additionally visited our usual DC bases. The boys really just love to be outside where they can roam around, climb in trees, find a playground or go on a walk. (P.S. on Jack's hair for those of you wondering....yes we do get his hair cut and the last one being a mere 6 weeks ago in Disney. Honestly it seems to have a mind of it's own--it comes in curlier and thicker every time we have it cut. And no his hair is not a part of the Raquel Welch wig collection. And yes we LOVE it and plan to keep it this way as long as we can. I would be happy to see those curls popping out from underneath a graduation cap)
Back to the tour....When we got home I asked them what their favorite part of the trip was and Luke told me "the ambulance, my blankie and our walk". Their behavior is very toddler-like (i.e. not so hot) in the exchanges so as long as they are entertained otherwise then we can continue to make the annual trek to save .49 on toothpaste. We couldn't have asked for better weather--it had to have been near 80 each day in the DC area. On Saturday while I shopped the boys went mini-golfing, did an arts and crafts project and walked along the dock with Daddy and Uncle Joey. It is so nice to all be together for the weekend and the boys love being with their big cousins. On Sunday we visited Fort Meyer where we got to visit the horses and Caissons that carry the Presidents' coffins. Surprisingly Jack liked it better than Luke and even managed to pet a few horsies. Luke was more skeptical and was perfectly content with his bah in his mouth. At one point when the horses were just a little too overwhelming for Luke he just looked up and whined "somebody pick me up". While trying to pose for a family picture, one horse mistakenly thought my hair was hay and tried to take a nibble. Silly horse--how dare he? Can anyone say deep conditioning treatment for me??
