Mr. Gallagher goes to Washington.....well Atlanta for now!

What an amazing week for Dan! We found out on Wednesday that Dan has been selected as a Regional Finalist for the White House Fellowship program and we are so thrilled!!! Dan has been working towards this for the past few years and is a perfect candidate for this position--but of course it's not up to me. He was selected from a pool of 1000+ people and is now in the top 108. He will fly to Atlanta next week for panel interviews and the next step would be qualifying as a National Finalist (approx 35 people). From there, further interviews are conducted in Washington DC in May with the final selection being in mid-June. So there is still a long way to go but right now we are celebrating this major accomplishment and doing everything we can to get him prepared for some tough interviews in Atlanta. The day Dan found out, the boys and I decorated the house in red, white and blue streamers, flags, stars etc.. and had a little parade around the house to "Hail to the Chief" when he walked in the door. (Yes, a little dramatic, but this only happens once in a lifetime!) When I tried to explain to the boys why we were celebrating, the conversation went like this:

Me: Boys, today something really great happened to Daddy, so we're going to decorate the house and make a big dinner......

Luke: What happened to him?

Me: He was picked to be a part of something very special!

Luke: Like his nose?
