With Quinny now 11 days old, we are sufficiently sleep deprived but doing pretty well adjusting to our new little guy. Jack and Luke have been wonderful--they really love him and are just getting used to being a little more gentle and quiet around him--well mainly Luke. As we suspected, Jack is super interested in Quinn and always attentive to his cries and sounds. Luke not so much. Just last night, Jack called us in from the other room with "fire urgency" that Luke was trying to pinch Quinn. We never got to the bottom of what he was really doing, but this morning when Luke woke up he came right into Quinn and said "sorry for trying to pinch you the other night little buddy" I guess that answers our question. Overall I am pleased with their behavior and how well they have adjusted to bringing a baby home. It's actually going better than I imagined. The next few weeks will be challenging for them as I am in no rush to bring Quinn out of the house.
Quinn is eating and sleeping around the clock with no real schedule yet--gives us a few 4 hour stretches throughout the early evening and night time but makes up for it with eating every 2 hours at other times during the day. His belly button fell off over the weekend so we could give him his first bath on Sunday. The boys sat in the back of the tub and tried to help but Quinn just yelled most of the time. We also took him for his 1st professional photo shoot on Thursday--I'll blog about this later when I get the proofs but the place was incredible and I am crossing my fingers for some amazing pictures. He also had his 1st Doctor appointment with Dr. Long--mainly just a weight check and since he was still losing weight as of last Wednesday we are back to the Dr tomorrow to hopefully confirm that he is now gaining. The nursing is all new to me as I am hoping to not have to rely on my old friend the pump again like I did with the boys.
Today was Dan's first day back to work. He's been off for about a week and a half playing Mr. Mom for me and Julie the Cruise Director for the boys. He tried to take them out of the house everyday so Quinn and I could get a "piece of quiet" (to quote Charlie Costal) taking them to the park, zoo, for runs, a few trips to Costco and some other errands. I know they loved being with him and always have a hard day on the day he goes back. The boys also got to explore our mailman's mail truck--one of their favorite vehicles. Our mailman Mike was nice enough to entertain them for a few minutes while they explored. Luke asked if they could have a mail truck party next year for their 5th birthday. He's always thinking.
I've attached a few pictures of their adventures with Daddy this week and a few new ones of Quinn.
