As I've written before Jack and Luke love to scream BOO to everyone they meet. They say it about 20 times a day--when they wake up in the morning or from their nap, when they walk into a room, when they peek around a corner, when they tie their shoes--you get the picture. Today I took them to school and of course they bee-bopped into their classroom and screamed BOO to the teachers--1 of the teachers came up to me and said "after the 50th boo last week, it was a little much.." She was just laughing. I've attached some photos from trick-or-treating which they both loved. Dan pulled Jack, Luke and Landon around in the wagon and they were thrilled. Landon thought part of the deal was inviting himself in to everyone's houses and made it as far as the living room in several people's houses. They didn't even see the little bugger get past them. The boys also requested big boy beds last week (as opposed to the race car beds they have been in for a year and a half) . So we spent the weekend getting their rooms ready--painting Luke's room, buying a mattress, putting the beds together etc...It's so nice to walk into their rooms and see their "cribs" again now set up as full beds. Their rooms look so small now but very boyish with all the dark wood. I''ll attach a picture once they're camera-ready!
We are recovering from lack of sleep over here from daylight savings time, Halloween, to the election night results on such an historical evening. Although I can't say I have been an Obama supporter over the past 21 months I will use the next 75 days or so to try to get on board because I do believe that is the right thing to do as an American. I won't become a Democrat turning pro-choice anytime soon or embracing socialized medicine but supporting our 44th President is something that I want to teach our children. Republican or Democrat, we still live in the most amazing country in the world and everyone should be proud to be an American regardless of the present state of the country. I sincerely hope that all people that are in desperate need of change, assistance, tax relief etc....will be thriving in 4 years. That is not to say that we are enjoying the high price of gas or food right now but I really don't feel like I am in a position to complain. We live a charmed life--we get up everyday and get to safely go wherever we like, we have food, a warm house, an amazing school for our children, a loving family, I can maintain this charming blog of mine and Dan is employed. (note--I'm employed too but the pay just isn't as good and the sick policy really needs to be revamped). So while there have been mistakes made by the government over the last 8 years, I truly believe that most people are doing the best job they can and I can't be any less than thankful for all that we have.
Over the last few days, I have really been moved by the reaction of so many African Americans to Obama's election. I heard Whoopi Goldberg say that as an American she finally feels like she can put her suitcase down. That most African American boys were always told that they can do anything they want--but they'll never be President of the United States...pretty amazing that parents no longer need to say that to their sons. While it is historic, I never thought that it was so out of the realm of possibility that we would have a black president, and I think that thankfully most people of my generation feel the same way. So good for Barack Obama and his family--our new 1st Family. Now a woman elected...I hope I live to see it.
God Bless America!
