Over the past few months on the rare occasion when Luke doesn't nap he refers to himself for the rest of the day as "No nap Nukey". It's cute on the rare occasion when that happens. Well it seems the rare occasion is becoming a daily occurrence and I am not happy about it one tiny bit. He hasn't napped since Thursday and I'm getting a little worried that he might be trying to give it up. The tricky part though is that he goes up to his room at the same time as Jack and doesn't make a PEEP for 2-3 hours and then he calls my name leading me to believe that he did in fact take a nap. On the contrary, my friends. He is not red-faced, sweaty or "wake-up grumpy" when I get to his room, instead he his giddy with himself and the fast one he thinks he has pulled on me. I've been told that most kids wean themselves out of their nap but it appears Lukey may be going cold-turkey. I just don't think he's ready yet--we need to make until June. 4 years old is a perfectly acceptable time to stop napping in my book. I'll keep you posted.....
On Saturday we met our friends the Haggerty's at Haverford College for family Christmas photos. Dan loves to take pictures and has a really good eye for staging so we let Dan call the shots (i.e. it's Dan's fault if the pictures don't turn out--just kidding :)--he really is super talented). We met at 10AM on the foggiest Fall morning with rain expected to start any minute. The campus was so amazing that morning, it actually looks like a we are in a bad Sears portrait studio in the 70's with the Autumnal screen pulled down behind us. You couldn't re-create these conditions if you tried. We had a ball. The boys have loved the duck pond at Haverford College since they were so little (Dan runs there with the boys in the jogger) so it seemed like the perfect spot for our annual family photo (who am I kidding--monthly family photo) For some reason Luke was a little afraid the ducks were going to eat him but Jack really hammed it up. I'll leave the picture a surprise but just know that by the time we were done it had started to pour and we were soaked, with goose poop all over our shoes...definitely the calm before the storm.
