A Day at the Zoo

Today I took the boys to the Philadelphia Zoo for embarrassingly the 1st time ever--considering we only live 5 miles away and they LOVE animals. We've been to the National Zoo, Cape May Zoo, the Animal Kingdom but not OUR zoo...I hadn't been there myself in over 15 years either and it was a real treat. Lucky for us Nana and Pop-Pop Gallagher got us a zoo membership for the boys birthday so we can now start making weekly trips. As many of you know, most activities we do with the boys are a real toss up--1 loves it, 1 hates it, 1 can't wait to get there, 1 can't wait to get home....the zoo however is the exception. Both boys absolutely loved it--they ran around from animal to animal yelling "Wow--this is my favorite"--even the spotted horn bills! They listened, held hands and were absolutely gleeful the entire 3 hours--a record outing especially for mommy-solo trip! There is one area in particular called the "Treehouse" (approximately the size of a basketball gym) where they can climb on absolutely everything and for our boys it doesn't get any better than this. They would scale the walls if you let them. I thought we weren't going to make it beyond the polar bears until I took them to this part.

One funny story on the way to the zoo:
Mommy: Guess what boys, Nana and Pop-Pop got us a Membership to the zoo so now we can go whenever we want.
Luke: Oh! I want to go on that member SHIP. Where will it take us?

I have also attached a picture of a peacock trying to help himself to a soft drink...which Jack responded "Oh that's fine Mommy, he just needs a Coke" Just 1 more reason to always wipe the top of your vending machine soda can.

Look out Zoo the Gallagher boys will be back!
