1 down, 1 to go. We celebrated our Thanksgiving with my family on Saturday--our annual tradition so that everyone can be there and not have to split time with their in laws. We had a great day and as usual the boys are thrilled to play with their cousins. There are now 14 adults, 5 teens/tweens, 4 kids and 2 toddlers bringing the grand total to 25 on that day. Will we make 30 soon? We're getting close :)
Some exciting news to report---We are so happy for Colleen and Lucas who are newly engaged!!! He proposed the night before her 40th birthday last week and she happily accepted. There are no wedding plans yet and they are just enjoying being engaged--for the last 7 days :) They are still living in Sedona, AZ and enjoying the Southwest lifestyle. Shannon is plugging along with her pregnancy at about 27 weeks and expecting boy/girl twins at the end of February. Hoping those monkeys arrive around Valentine's Day. We had a surprise sprinkle here for her a few weeks ago and sprinkled her with the necessities of diapers, wipes and onesies. I think poor Charlie was the most surprised as he ran back out the door when we all screamed. The Krechels are heading to Disney today for about 2 weeks--I, of course, am totally J. They are surprising the kids with a few night stay at The Polynesian followed by some Orlando hotel hopping so they can get a few days in at the Harry Potter park. Muggles they are not. Knute and Jo-Ann flew the coop for the week and are in Amsterdam for Thanksgiving. Wild and crazy parents we have.
We are starting to get ready for Christmas this weekend and actually did a bit of decorating yesterday and a little more today since the boys have a 1/2 day. We put full sized Christmas trees in Jack and Luke's room for them to decorate with all of their handmade ornaments and hand selected ornaments from our travels. They are so proud that they have their own tree and loved going to sleep last night with the twinkle of white Christmas lights. Quinn has a very small Mickey Mouse table tree on his bureau which is adorable and perfect to give him something to look at. No lights for him though. We try so hard to make the holidays special for them.
I will be doing a little on-line Black Friday shopping but will not be leaving the house that morning. Too cold and too stressful. There are no hot toys that the boys really want and they are happy with just about anything. I just enjoy a good bargain and seeing what's on sale out there. So if anyone needs anything I will probably be online at 12:01....
I have recently become fascinated with the royal engagement--not Colleen and Lucas--but William and Kate. I am watching and reading everything out there. Why do I care? I have no idea but it's fun to follow. Crazy Brits. Please tell me someone reading this is also glued to their story....I'm sure we all remember where we were when we got the news of Princess Diana.
Hope you have a safe, fun, family-filled weekend. You are in our thoughts and prayers as we are so thankful for the abundant blessings in our life. Happy Thanksgiving.
