After an exhausting week last week, we were looking forward to trick-or-treating in our neighborhood Saturday night and calling it an early night. By 7PM, Jack and a horrible cough and seemed to be feverish. By Sunday afternoon both boys were knocked out. Jack was definitely worse with his fever and was shaking and throwing up when it would get really high. We had a rough night Sunday night with both of them up coughing, went to the Dr on Monday morning where they diagnosed them both with the flu and prescribed Tamiflu because of their asthma. Luke also has a double ear infection. Dan and I also have something but it doesn't seem as severe or running the same course as the boys. We have kept Jack and Luke on the 2nd floor since Sunday to keep them away from Quinn and Dan and I are wearing masks on the 1st floor at all times. Quinn seems fine and he is just as happy as can be. The bright light in all of this as been his adorable smile and giggle--he thinks the masks are funny and is desperate for some interaction from his brothers. Jack and Luke however don't seem to mind staying upstairs as our big bed has become a diner for them--they love the service. In fact, we offered for them to eat breakfast downstairs this morning and they said no thanks. We will keep them home from school until Tuesday just to be safe but thankfully they have been fever free for 24 hours. Maybe tomorrow they'll join us downstairs! We are assuming this is H1N1 but because it is so widespread they aren't testing for it anymore and they believe everyone who has the flu right now has this strain. Thank God we seem to be on the mend, but this is no fun. Steer clear of coughers and wash your hands all day long. Our pediatrician said in order to catch it you need to be coughed or sneezed on within 3 feet of an infected person and it doesn't seem to live very long on inanimate objects. I say commence the Lysol and Purell (Peter-L as Jack calls it).
