12th Annual Base Tour

We made our annual base trip to DC again this year and had a great time. We headed down Thursday morning and did some DC sightseeing and spent the night there before leaving Friday morning for Annapolis and Solomons, Maryland where we spent 2 more nights. We went on a quasi tour of the US Capitol--we only lasted about 20 minutes before Luke announced to everyone that he was bored and needed a drink. We also made our usual stop to Air & Space and that is always a hit. During a brief visit to the Library of Congress, Jack passed an African American gentlemen that he exclaimed was Barack Obama. We were cracking up--they are really obsessed with all things Barack Obama. Some Republicans we are. We are raising 2 proud Americans that's for sure! On Friday, we made our usual base stops and then spent one morning in St. Mary's, MD--an Historic site where we convinced the boys there would be Pirate's treasure for them to find. Treasure in the form of Dora fruit snacks that Aunt Shani hid in an old gazebo. How did those Pirates know??? We also had popcorn and movie night for them and a scavenger hunt for flashlights! Jack and Luke love being with their cousins and Quinny was an angel. He was really smiling and giggling this weekend and we were loving it! The weather was beautiful in DC and it was great to get away. Short blog for now---back to school today!
