We really have had such a great summer. We did lots of things with no real plans and the weather seemed beautiful every day. I don't think our lawn is very happy about that but you know what they say--you can't grow grass and grow boys. The end of August brought a trip to the West End Fair with the Krechels where we walked around in the POURING rain and a long weekend in Ocean City for my birthday. We spent a day at The Academy of Natural Science downtown with Aunt Shani, Charlie and Finn and visited Daddy at work. We made 1 final trip (well before school starts anyway) to Ocean City over Labor Day weekend. We had to get a peak at the stormy ocean courtesy of Earl. It was pretty cool. It was windy and so rough and 1 giant wave snuck past us and took all of our shoes away--we got the shoes and managed to only lose 1 sock. Pictures to follow...
We are now enjoying our final week of summer before the big K starts. Haircuts check, backpack check, lunch box check. We walked down to meet the bus driver as the boys will be taking a bus in the mornings. Or Limo as I like to call it b/c they will be the only 2 on the bus. (They are the only ones from our Township that go to their school so the District is required to take them there but not pick them up so I will have the afternoon shift.) I think they are excited about the bus. It seems like a Kindergarten rite of passage that I didn't want to deprive them of so we'll see how it goes. Luke spotted the bus number right away and ran down the block to get home to write it down so he wouldn't forget his #....so cute. Once we got home though they both started to ask more detailed questions of how the morning would go when they take the bus. I love hearing their little minds dissect things and mentally check off how and when things are going to happen and who will be there to help them. It's great.
I am truly excited for Kindergarten for them and all the things the year holds but it's bittersweet too. I am hoping they both love it and are good students. I know for me I have only a few memories of Kindergarten but they are happy ones and I hope they have the same. I don't want that Sunday night dread to ever start for them....well at least until there is a paycheck associated with it :) And if they are one of the lucky ones, maybe not even then.
