I haven't posted in over a week because we have been quite busy over here getting ready for the Jolly Old Fella. Jack and Luke thoroughly understand what's going on and frequently remind each other that if they don't listen, follow directions, pick up some toy etc..then Santa won't be coming on Christmas Eve. We have been trying to entertain them with as many holiday activities as we can--including craft projects, movie nights, Generous Generations activities etc... So we took them to see Santa which deserves a blog entry all to itself (coming soon), took them to the Comcast Holiday party (where we had another chance to talk Santa's ear off and have some family photos taken), decorated the house, put up the tree (which they carefully decorated), and bought them a kid-friendly Nativity scene. With all the Santa hoopla we wanted to make sure they really understood what it's all about. They absolutely love the Nativity and play with it constantly under the tree except they call it the "Jesus game". We have also been following our advent calendar each morning and reading a homemade message--although they are more excited by the candy behind each door, which these days has been Starburst because not much else fits behind the doors! Generous Generations also hosted a Holiday Cookie Sharing event where the kids created bags of cookies for a homeless ministry in Upper Darby. The boys just loved it--despite having an egg allergy and not being able to sneak a few here and there!
We're trying our best to mix the true meaning of Christmas in with the typical 3 year old Santa activities. Hopefully our efforts will be meaningful.....
