Summer fun!

We've been counting off the days for summer to arrive and it already seems like so long ago that we were covered under several feet of snow wishing for hot and humid. We have no official plans for the summer weeks. My plan is to wake up and assess the weather and moods and decide to go where the wind--or in our case Odyssey--takes us! We've been meeting up weekly with some of Jack and Luke's friends from their class and they have been loving it. Our travels have taken us to a few different local playgrounds and Smith Playground in Fairmount Park. It's something we are going to try to keep up for the summer as 1/2 of these friends are not going to Kindergarten next year and the other 1/2 are going to their public school Kindergarten. I hope by the end of the summer I've taken my 3 little "Flat Stanleys" to some new and exciting places. We will try to get to Ocean City as much as possible and have 1 short trip planned in the next few weeks that I cannot wait to blog about. Stay tuned.
Smith Playground has been their favorite and I've included some pictures. Yet another place in our backyard that I have always meant to take them and it just never happened. The grounds are beautiful and the house was donated by the Smith family--as a Playhouse-- in the late 1800's in honor of their deceased son. Dan's parents took them when they were young but it's really changed over the years. It's shocking to me that it has always been a playhouse. The inside really shows it's age but the outside is incredible, state-of-the-art playground equipment that they boys just loved. One outside staple is the giant 40-foot wooden slide that 12 kids can go down at the same time. 3 at a time was enough for us. Landon, Jack and Luke are the commotion of about 12 kids so it worked out just fine. Quinn loved watching them and just smiled the whole time. We're already planning another trip for next week!
Meanwhile back at the ranch, I think the ants finally spread the word that there are 3 little boys that live here and drop A LOT of food. In the 6 years that we've lived here, I don't think I have ever seen 1 ant. I'm not kidding and now this week, they are in this 1 spot. It's me vs. the ants...they will have a new home by next week. For now...Ants=1, Suz=0.
